What is Take 2 Cinema?

Take 2 Cinema is LUSU’s student cinema; run by students for students. We screen the latest releases a few months after they are released in UK cinemas. The price of entry is £4, or £3 entry with a purple card. Films start at 7:30pm; doors are open at 7:15pm. ‘Take 2’ is the new brand for the campus cinema, replacing the original brand ‘LUCinema’.

Where is Take 2 Cinema?

You can find us in the Bowland Lecture Theatre, across from Bowland bar.

When are films screened?

We generally show films on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout each term. You can check the schedule here

What are the facilities like?

We are equipped a 4K ultra-HD resolution, digital projector with Dolby Digital 3D and Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround Sound; a system that rivals any UK multiplex cinema. There is comfortable seating and enough room for up to 200 people. Toilets are located at the back of the cinema.

What about food and drink?

We offer the opportunity to purchase snacks and refreshments such as popcorn during select showings. Although you are welcome to bring your own snacks and refreshments provided there is no hot food or alcohol brought into the cinema.

Can I work at the cinema?

As the Cinema is run by students for students, we ask for volunteers to join the cinema and dedicate their time to fill a number of roles. As a reward we offer free screenings. You can find out more information here.

What roles are available at the cinema?

Students are offered the chance to be trained as projectionists; using industry standard technology and being responsible for the safety of our guests and equipment. We also offer roles such as front of house operations like stewarding. Upon being a member of the cinema, you are invited to run for election on the cinema Executive team at the end of year elections. All training and participation is offered free of charge. What is the Cinema Executive? 

The Exec is the managing team behind the cinema, consisting of various roles from President/management, marketing, administration and many more. The Exec is responsible for making sure the cinema is successful operationally, maintaining the equipment, choosing films and managing showings. You can read more about the Exec here

How do I join?

Can societies use the cinema?

We offer the ability for societies to request the use of the cinema free of charge, whether for socials or society events. The use of the cinema is only granted upon approval of the cinema exec and if the society agrees to uphold the terms of use.
